“I can't wait to get to normal... ”-Exodus 14:11

Being so isolated with the Corona virus I'm hearing  I can't wait to get to normal...  And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?- Exodus 14:11 We get like that, to look back, even when circumstances had looked unfavorable for us...we still search for the normal being good or bad. The Israelites, were being sarcastic talking about not having enough graves or no graves in Egypt to have brought them into the wilderness. Even though they were in slavery they said we still got fed leeks and bread and meats...were is our new normal Moses?

Being in quarantine, most of us can't wait to go on vacation, traveling, purchasing this and that. Anything but being in that house...please give me that new normalIf God himself can bring us out of the worst situation, he will himself discover a  new way, a new normal to bring us out again. In times of great difficulty and great expectation, it is our wisdom to keep our spirits calm, quiet, and sedate; for then we are in the best frame both to do our own work and to consider how God has given us HIS normal.

The Good News said…
We don’t know what difficulties the author of Psalm 116 was encountering. Some Bible commentaries say it was probably sickness because he said, “the cords of death entangled me” (v. 3). But he gave thanks to the Lord for being gracious and full of compassion when he was “brought low” (vv. 5–6).
When we’re low, it can be hard to look up. Yet if we do, we see that God is the giver of all good gifts in our life—great and small—and we learn to give Him thanks...When we think honestly about how little we can do on our own to deal with our challenges in life, we realize how very weak we are. Our heart begins to cry,"Lord, how can we do such things?" That is when our Lord takes over! He comes with such a comforting message: "Lay down your weapons. Quit trying to be so self–sufficient and strong. I am your weapon and your strength. Let Me do what you never can do. I will give you My righteousness, My holiness, My rest, My strength. You cannot save yourself or please Me in any way other than by receiving the blessings of the cross by faith. Let Me be in charge of your growth in holiness."
