" Would You Walk The Extra Mile ? "

I was praying with a mom who is enduring her grown  son's drug addiction since he was 14 years old. One night he came into the house with a sign, that begs for money. This devastated the mom, because see didn't realize to what point, her son would go to get drugs.

Many of us many be able to relate to this mom and the battle with her son. Much like  in Mark 9: 17, when a man with a son with a dumb spirit tormented the father with his tearing and foaming and gnashing of his teeth..tying to harm himself. The father confesses to Jesus " I believe, but help my unbelief." We can tell  that the father had put up with his son's condition since he was a child. That says to me.. in our own strength we place limitation on how much we can do or give in any situation. Like in Luke 10: 30-36 " The Good Samaritan" when a men who was traveling fell among thieves, which stripped him of is clothes and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now the people that walked passed him the priest and the Levite..saw his condition and still passed him by. It took a Samaritan to go that extra mile, to bound up his wounds, poring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, to bring him to an inn to take good care of him. And he payed extra to the inn keeper when he felt well to depart..put it on his tab, he said.

I believe God doesn't want us too put limitation on those that are hurt and lost in a distorted lifestyle. That extra boost is Jesus, coming to him when your son is so lost in drugs you are at you wicks end . Or when you pass on someone that you feel will never make it..there is no hope why bother. Jesus is our source of strength, we can lead on him when we get a bad report from the doctor, a layoff on the job, and eviction notice on your home. Amen Amen!!
