Simon of Cyrene

..As we come into the resurrection week, God has put on my heart, part of the Easter story no one really mentions. Simon of Cyrene, the men from Africa who helped Jesus carry the cross. This story appears in three of the Gospels: Matthew 27:32, Mark 15:21 and Luke 23:26. He was a merchant who travel a long way to sell his goods on the Passover. And much to his surprise, he is called out to help Jesus, carry his cross by the soldiers to Golgotha.

For me this was an act of random kindness, Simon, came to the the side of Jesus, when he was brutally beaten almost until death, in human form. Just the act of coming along side of Jesus in his time of need, reflects on those that are dependent on the care of others. The person that has cancer, a disability, Jesus shows me we that are dependent, can walk side my side with Jesus, through those difficult times.

Personally, I have become one, who is dependent on others to care for my needs. Having MS, you go through some dark valleys and no one but Jesus can help you carry that cross. Isaiah 53 :5 said it best.. "He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
