The Difficult Places

Been reading Matthew chapter 8 verse 31 to 34, it's been speaking to me.  The demons pleaded with him, “If you throw us out, send us into the herd of pigs.”  Then he said to the demons, “Go away,” and they came out and went into the pigs. The whole herd rushed down the cliff into the lake and drowned. Those who tended the pigs ran into the city and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men.  Then the whole city came out and met Jesus. When they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.

What upsets me, was that the people that tended the pigs, plead for him to leave their region.  It's not the fact that the people asked him to leave, but that we are a lot like them, asking Jesus to leave when we can't handle any more difficulties in our lives. When we are going in the wrong direction in our lives or when one difficulty comes after another, Jesus is trying  to rescue us by showing up to give us a detour.

The pigs were a source of income for the tenders, they allowed demons in their back yard as long as they were able to have their income.  You  could be going through a progressive illness, and once again you are stripped away from another ability in your life. Or you were just told you will be let go of your job of twenty years, and you don't know your next step. And a love one just passed away from cancer, and after being the caregiver all this time, you are emotionally spent."Jesus please leave I can't take any more." That's what we are saying, when or faith is attacked like Job, in the Bible.

We can be so in love with our present  situation, even difficulties, we don't even have any room for Jesus......
