Jesus took this time to speak to the twelve, to confirm them, their hearts: Will you also go awayThe twelve had now had time enough to try how they liked Jesus and his word, and that none of them might afterwards say that they were forced to be with them,  here he allows them to leave. What has been bothering me lately is how the word of God doesn't reach the hearts of people, who have all these noises blocking out, what Jesus is speaking to each and every heart. The reason which the officers gave for the non-execution of their warrant for Jesus, was that they said . “Never a man spoke like this man“, John 7:46. The very officers that were sent to take him were taken with him...In other words they were saying..“Do we know what we are doing, when we are hating and persecuting one that speaks so admirably well?” The Pharisees said to these officers: “Are you also deceived? -John 7:47. .Nicodemus, was on the fence.. he came to Jesus by night, John 7:50. yet he retained his place in the council as a Pharisee during the day.......

How often has the Lord done a mighty work on our behalf when all seemed lost? He is actively involved in our lives today. Sadly, we often thank Him in the moment but then forget what He’s done for us. Later, when we are fearful again, it’s far too easy to forget how He has already proven Himself in our lives.

The problem is that we often desire to give Him dominion over just certain areas of our life. For example, too many of us want Him out of our finances, out of our schedule, or out of our career. But when we are lying in a hospital bed, which of us will tell Jesus to stay out of our health? So ask yourself, Is Jesus the Lord of my life or not?
