Jesus Heals The Ten Lepers Luke. 17:11-19

God had spoken to my heart about, the story of Jesus healing the ten lepers. Lets look at the details of the story that will help us understand it a little better. Looking at the nine who weren't thankful . And then, we will notice the one who returned to give thanks to Jesus for the miracle that Jesus performed.

God is speaking very heavy about our condition of ungratefulness. When I read the scriptures in Luke 17 : 11-19, nine lepers did not return, to give God thanks for what He did. I find that stunting, considering, they even requested that He heal them. Even in this great miracle, they were not thankful, it wasn't spoken, but in action it was obvious.

We must be careful today because we can be ungrateful as well. Jesus has done tremendous things for us, and sometimes we do not seek Him to thank Him. For example, how many times do we pray for someone to get better and then do not thank God when they recover? There is nothing worse than an ungrateful person.

Jesus healed these lepers even though nine of them were ungrateful for what He did. How can this be? When we do something nice for someone, it's only natural that we are thanked. Leprosy is a disease that is unforgiving in social, out casting and  medical terminal status, which is contagious if others encounter a leper. Only one of the lepers returned to thank Jesus for what He did. This man, just like the other nine, was under a death sentence; but Jesus healed him. This Samaritan (who hates Jews) demonstrated his thankfulness for what Jesus did for him.

Jesus, is giving us a mirror of our true heart, the condition of that appreciating the Lord's graces and mercy everyday. Waking me up, giving me sight, walking, talking, etc., even if we can't do all those things, we have to give thanks for the things the Lord blesses us with. We need to always be thankful for what God has done for us.
Eph. 5:20 - giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Phil. 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!
Col. 3:15 - And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful .
James 1:17 - Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.

Nine were not thankful for what Jesus did for them. One returned to thank Jesus. I have to admit, I don't find myself thankful at times, even when I have been bless so much. I sometimes find my self telling God I need more or deserve more, and that is just as crazy as  the nine lepers not coming back to give thanks.

Why do you think, it sometimes take us, to hit rock bottom, before we cleanse our hearts to make room for thankfulness. It because of or nature, not knowing the greatest sacrifice ever given of God's Son Jesus dying for our sins.- John 3:16
